Heavy Aging: This guitar has definitely seen the road and was only put in the case to go to the next gig. There are heavy dings and scratches everywhere and the craquelé shows on the finish of the guitar. This is what 50 years of touring looks like!

Because we are musicians as well as builders, we also think like musicians. And that means we’re thinking TONE. Acoustically volumes, resonant vibes.

With every new build we first get a general concept of what this guitar is going to be about. What is the goal of the guitar we are building? What are we trying to achieve? This may sound obvious, but with every decision we take during the build, we always get back to ‘The Concept’.

They hand pick the tone-woods for the guitars we build, there is no other way in getting the quality right. We use different types of wood, depending on weight, looks and the sound that they’re trying to achieve for each specific build. A nice selection of Alder, Swamp Ash and Abachi in stock. That means: we can build and finish a whole guitar within a matter of a few months!

Obsessed with painting
We like to experiment with different colours and expend our colour palette with each new series we build. As you might already know: paint is the one thing that can really make or break the acoustic quality of a guitar. And yes, you will hear the difference even when you play through an amp. Therefore, we only use the good old NC-lacquer that gives our guitars that resonant sound.

Let’s talk about pickups.
The pickups are handbuild and handwound, right here in The Netherlands. We don’t outsource and we only use the highest-quality components. All our new pickup models are road tested by professional musicians before put in production. Just like you, we are musicians and we take sound seriously.

Apollo Pickups look like they’ve been around forever. They sound ‘vintage’, but they’re not plain reproductions of original models. We studied the original models and then redesigned these. We search for new combinations in magnet types and strenght, wire thickness, wire insulation and the amount of turns of wire on a coil. Al these variables greatly influence the sound of a guitar pickup. And many, many combinations still haven’t been made to this day. This enables us to continue to look for new sonic oppertunities. We believe that the best has yet to come.
